Oscars Group are pleased to announce the acquisition of Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise, conveniently located between the heart of Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. The property boasts 270 newly refurbished guest rooms and suites alongside 4 food & beverage venues, 11 conference and event rooms, a tavern as well as swimming pool, tennis court and other guest amenities. The purchase also includes a 2000m2 parcel of land with development approval to build a tower containing over 230 apartments.
David Robertson has been appointed General Manager and will lead all the existing Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise employees. The Hotel will operate business as usual and will focus on capitalising from the buoyant Leisure and Residential Conferencing markets. The hotel, restaurant and bar has recently undergone a refurbishment, with some further future cosmetic works to improve the asset and enhance guest experience. The relationship with IHG Hotels and Resorts will continue having re-negotiated a franchise agreement with IHG to add to the agreements Oscars already have in place with Holiday Inn Warwick Farm and their Green Field development at Shell Cove (due for completion in late 2024) which will boast Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina.
Oscars Group are very excited about welcoming Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise into the portfolio quoting “The acquisition fits well into our strategy of further moving into the destinational hotspots and taking advantage of the booming domestic tourism market that continues to thrive. We love this asset as it provides a number of opportunities outside of the core hotel business with the reactivation of the food & beverage venues, the tavern that boasts a solid passive trade and the development site in what is a prime location
